Matt Fregeau

Meet,

A man standing in shallow water on a beach, holding a white surfboard, wearing an orange hoodie, patterned shorts, and a gray beanie, with palm trees and green bushes in the background on a beach on the North Shore of Oahu.

Matt Fregeau first fell in love with the ocean after a single body surfing session at Waimea Bay in 2008. Shortly after, Matt moved to the North Shore where he found the surfboard building industry at the Old Waialua Sugar Milll.

Matt worked hard and long hours year after year learning the trade from the guys who’ve been building boards since the 60’s.

Matt’s commitment to doing what he loves and working with his hands lead him to launch Red Dirt Resin in 2025 after over a decade of hands-on experience in the industry. He would tell you his favorite step in the board building process is the color work where he gets to let his creativity flow.

Matt appreciates any chance to connect with friends in the community and provide them with boards that feel fantastic under their feet, look beautiful in their hands, and last in the water so come on by and see for yourself.
